The Point Pleasant Chamber of Commerce and its membership have always valued the tremendous support of the Point Pleasant community who loyally frequent the many businesses in our town and help make this such an economically vibrant place. In turn, the Chamber and its membership have always generously supported a variety of worthy causes and events in Point Pleasant.
The Chamber has initiated a formal program, the "Point Pleasant Give Back Day", wherein the Chamber membership can voluntarily participate in a unified, Chamber-promoted campaign to contribute to specific worthy causes that are chosen periodically throughout each calendar year. This page serves as a primary source of information about the latest Give Back Day cause, goals, participating businesses, and ultimately how the campaign went. The Chamber is deeply grateful for the remarkable generosity of our member businesses in helping us give back to the community we all love.

The Cause
On the evening of Thursday, August 9, 2018, 14-year old Point Pleasant student Emma-Mae (last name withheld because Emma is a minor) was critically injured in a hit-and-run vehicle collision while crossing Route 88 on her bicycle with a group of friends (read NJ.com news article here). Emma sustained three skull fractures and was placed in ICU. Emma is very strong but has a long road to recovery ahead of her and her medical expenses are expected to be significant.
The Point Pleasant Chamber has announced its first Give Back Day to raise funds for Emma-Mae to help defray the costs of her recovery. Emma's family has also set up a Go Fund Me Page to raise funds for her medical costs so you can directly contribute to Emma this way as well. |
The Campaign
Date: Saturday, August 25
Description: Give Back Day for Emma-Mae This Give Back Day, please support local Point Pleasant businesses who will be donating financial assistance to local student Emma Mae to help her successfully recover from injuries she sustained earlier this Summer. Look for businesses sporting black and gold balloons that indicate that they will be donating a percentage of their sales to this worthwhile cause. Click the adjacent "Give Back" image to view the list of businesses participating in this wonderful and worthwhile cause and be sure to support them so that they can provide Emma with all the financial assistance she needs. |
The Result
The Chamber is proud to announce that we raised $15,000 for Emma-Mae (with 96% reporting in as of August 30). We are deeply grateful to all the Chamber member businesses who participated in this Give Back Day campaign and made a direct and very significant impact on one person's life on August 25, 2018. The Chamber will be presenting all checks, tentatively on Wednesday, September 4 to Emma Mae's family.
